Creating an unexpected icon

The 900k sqft project comprised a multi-storey car park over six floors and roof level of parking with a direct pedestrian link to the neighbouring Novotel Hotel and Convention Gate of Dubai World Trade Centre.

SESC performed a dual role on the project, as both commissioning consultant and MEP contractor. The nature of the project produced complexities that the team overcame with aplomb, included a large amount of MEP and Civil infrastructure works diverting live existing services, installing new services and also some major roadworks to provide access to the new facility. Our commissioning team ensured that all these logistical issues were not barriers to getting the structure and all its services commissioned on time and with the highest levels of quality.

The world’s second largest helipad with full landing and support facilities was created on the roof with direct access for VIP and associated lobby areas.

The roof parking shading combined shading with photovoltaic panels for energy efficiency for the facility. The new facility dramatically improves the parking options for both the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) and World Trade Centre Arena, as well as the Trade Centre District in general. It will also provide a substantial LED advertising opportunity on the curved façade mounted LED screen.
